When me and my group first started think about what genre that we wanted to pick for our trailer we had some trouble about choosing one. The reason why this was because we wanted to choose a genre that would allow us as a group to develop our skills further and push ourself to get a better grade at the end of the project. As a group we researched into the different genres for the trailers using different form of research like we watched trailers on YouTube and on a website called Traileraddict.com, we also had a looked on some blogs to read some reviews on what other people thought of the trailers. By doing this it allowed us to gain some sort of idea of what genre that we wanted to focus on for our trailer.
Bad Grandpa
The first trailer that we looked at was Bad Grandpa, this is a movie created by the Jackass team, this movie is a comedy movie about a grandson and his grandpa going on a road trip and creating trouble wherever they go. With this movie the shots that they have used are much longer than the shot cuts that you see in other genre trailers, also they don't have any titles in the beginning and the sound that is used is mainly the main characters dialogue. Throughout the trailer they have used different sciences that will make the audience laugh and scenes that will attract the audience to go see the movie. The age certification for this film is a 15, but this doesn't mean that the target audience for the film is the same, for this film I think that the target audience is about 14-25, the reason why I think this is because thought the trailer the main character often use a lot of swear words and some of the scenes could be too rude for the younger eyes. As you start to get to the end of the trailer the cuts start to speed up and also they add some music into the trailer, this is also when the titles start to show up allowing the audience to see who is in the movie and what the movie is actually called.
Fast and Furious 6
Fast and Furious 6 is about a group of some of the worlds best drivers, living the life after stealing money in Rio and starting a new life with not having to keeping looking be hide them to see if they are begin followed, but this time its the cops that need their help to bring down, one of the worlds best criminals.
In the beginning of this trailer it starts of with a establishing shot of where the movie is going to be set, but if you have seen the other movies before you know that this is where the last movie left of, so the shot at the beginning is a connection to the movie before. Also at the start of the trailer the cuts start of slow and the music that is used go along with the dialogue of the main characters, through-out the trailer the cuts start to speed up as the action starts to happen, with the quick cuts that are used it gets the audience excited to see what is going to happen. LOL
The film LOL is a Rom-Com, about a young girl (Miley Cyrus) starting a new year in school being heartbroken by her boyfriend and slowing finds out that her best friend has feelings for, this film is a coming of age story of modern times.
When the trailer start we get a noise of a school bell this indicates to the audience where the film is going to be set in the school or the narrative of the film is about the school. The use of music that is in the background is quite mellow this suggest to the audience that the film is going to be clam and mellow, and also it reflects the slow pace cuts that have been used. This is compared to the Fast and Furious trailer where the music is really fast, to keep up with the action that is happen and also the pace of the cuts. Over the top of the music the use of the main characters dialogue is used a lot, this is so that the audience understands who is the main character but also what the narrative of the film is going to be. When you get closer to the end of the trailer the names of the people start to come up, the way that they come up is they come along to the music and also they only show the names of the main character for instead Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, by doing this is shows the most important people and because everyone knows who they are, it helps to catch the peoples attention.

Bully
The film Bully is a documentary on peer-to-peer bullying in schools across the America,but the film mainly focuses on a young boys family telling the story of what happened to him that lead to him taking his own life. At the start of the trailer it opens up with use first hearing the dialogue of the father of the boy, the reason why we know this is because of the way that he is speaking about the boy and because they have put his voice over what looks like childhood videos of when the boy was happy. As the trailer continues we get quite slow cuts of the boy and also his school and what his school life is, as these clips are going we keep getting voice overs to him speaking about what it is like for him, but we also get one of a teacher talking to a group of boys about what they have done. Through-out the trailer the use of black screens with quotes, the quotes that they have used are hard hitting words that get you thinking about how bullying can affect people. As the Trailer come near to the end the cuts start to speed up, as does the music this is too reflect the progression of the storyline.
